Editor's Note: A good news to begin the year as Bob Iger confirmed to Bloomberg that Marvel theme parks ( or lands )  are coming at Disney Parks in California
( Disneyland or in a third theme park ), China ( very probably at HKDL and Shanghai Disneyland ), Japan ( TDL if they have the room ) and France ( DLP Walt Disney Studios ). But not in Florida of course because of the exclusivity that Universal have for Marvel rides in any Universal park "East of the Mississippi" as it is written in the contract between Universal and Marvel signed many years ago. So, all you have to do is being patient as it might take sometime ( or years ) but Marvel rides and lands are coming for sure in Disney Parks.

Sorry to disagree Alain, but imho this is very bad news. Marvel's superviolent "superheroes" are more like freaks that belong into a mental institution and don't fit at all into the Disney Universe. This is just the suits trying to stuff their pockets, nothing Walt would have done.

For sure they don't fit in a Magic Kingdom but if they put a Marvel land at the DHS or WDS i think it will be okay. But not sure that Disney will resist to put a Marvel ride in DL, HKDL or SDL Tomorrowlands, that's the problem...

The old strawberry field off of Ball Rd in Anaheim currently being used for parking is reportedly the site for the eventual "third gate". Hopefully, Disney will build a Marvel themed park there. Its close enough to the resort for convenience, especially once Disney builds their hotels at the Gardenwalk development, but far enough away to negate any perceived thematic clashing with Disneyland. Reserve Disneyland and California Adventure for Disney, Pixar and Lucasfilm properties (I'd love to see a Willow attraction. It won't happen, but I'd love it.). Use the eventual third park for Marvel and any similar properties. (Like Hasbro, if that rumor ever pans out.)

I'm not sure it's necessarily good news... While I certainly don't agree with anonymous and that tired old "it's not what Walt would do" canard, I personally prefer rides and attractions that aren't based on franchises. Especially comic ones. I know I'm in the minority on that notion, but I would rather have a ride based on an idea (like Grizzly Mountain, for example) instead of a movie they've made or purchased rights to. (Like Avatar, Cars or Marvel.)

Hello.. im a disneyland,s big fan..but when I finally travelled to WDW I was fall in love with SPIDERMAN ride.. now 6 years later not really sure if my favourite ride is these one or TOTERROR..
What im triying to say is no matter what the theme they chose if the imaginners idea is good.

Why not a dark ride for young kids based in xmen.. or a "space mountain" for young adults based on avengers..

Of course the big question is WHERE they put these new atracctions.. for me studios park is the best place of.. but we need to wait..

Marvel BELONGS in the studios Parks of Paris and Orlando. It is exactly the fresh new thing that those struggling parks need, Marvel and Star wars are the Savior s of the studio Parks, as long as Disney keeps those Parks without a major retheming, which is less cost effective.
A Marvel theme park would be a bad idea because the marvel characters exist in the modern real world, so there couldn't be any interesting themed lands that transport you to a different time and place, which is the key to a great theme park...think main street USA, wizarding world, frontierland, mysterious island. What would be the lands of Marvel theme Park? New York city, New York city and new York city? Ok I'm being sarcastic but you get the point. Gotham city or Metropolis would be the only interesting comic book places to visit, because they are fictional places, but unfortunately not marvel.
And where would you go for relaxing? A marvel theme park would flood your senses with sci fi and constant conflict and violence, which although entertaining, would become mentally exhausting after 8 or 10 hours of being there. That's why you need a peaceful place like new Orleans square, critter country where you can relax.
Or you could have comic themed lands like universals IOA, but that sort of theming is not visually pleasing, and reminds me of the cheap postcard entrance to DCA that was replaced with the stunning Buena vista street.
So the best fit for marvel is the studios Parks, as their own land or to fit them into already established themed lands such as they did with Indiana Jones and star tours. You could argue that iron man doesn't belong in tomorrow land, and I would agree with you, but would also suggest that neither does starwars(which exists a long time ago, not in the future) and neither does buzz lightyear, which fits much better in toy story land of hong kong or Paris. But I will say that I would much rather have a fresh new thrilling iron man attraction than innoventions ANYDAY. But please NEVER build an entire park based on marvel or any other franchise for that matter. Generic themed lands work the best, that was the genious of Walt Disney, and even if its a tired old canard, it's the truth. One look at the worlds most successful theme parks proves it.
