"Everything I Need to Know I learned in The Twilight Zone" by Mark Dawidziak Compile All the Teachings About Life From the Original Twilight Zone TV Series

What a great idea. Anyone who watched the 1960's Twilight Zone original series know not only how great these TV series were - and what a genius Rod Serling was - but also that each episode include implicitly a teaching about life. Now, author Mark Dawidziak had the genius idea to write a book titled "Everything I Need to Know I learned in The Twilight Zone: A Fifth-Dimension Guide to Life". It's a book that uses lessons learned about life in the Twilight Zone universe to help you live a better life:

Can you live your life by what The Twilight Zone has to teach you? Yes, and maybe you should. The proof is in this lighthearted collection of life lessons, ground rules, inspirational thoughts, and stirring reminders found in Rod Serling’s timeless fantasy series. Written by veteran TV critic, Mark Dawidziak, this unauthorized tribute is a celebration of the classic anthology show, but also, on another level, a kind of fifth-dimension self-help book, with each lesson supported by the morality tales told by Serling and his writers.

The notion that “it’s never too late to reinvent yourself” soars through “The Last Flight,’’ in which a World War I flier who goes forward in time and gets the chance to trade cowardice for heroism. A visit from an angel blares out the wisdom of “follow your passion” in “A Passage for Trumpet.” The meaning of “divided we fall” is driven home with dramatic results when neighbors suspect neighbors of being invading aliens in “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street.” The old maxim about never judging a book by its cover is given a tasty twist when an alien tome is translated in “To Serve Man.”

The book is currently available for pre-order on Amazon HERE, and Apple iBook store and exist both in printed hardcover version for $26.99 or iBook or Kindle 352 pages versions for $13.95. Apple iBook version HERE is at $12.99 even a bit cheaper than the Kindle one. The book will be released on February 28 and i think that for $12.99 it's the good deal of the month!

This Star Wars Ride Designed for Planet Coaster Should Be Build at Disneyland Right Now !

Here is a Star Wars ride designed by Guitar Covers Inc for Planet Coaster that should be build in Disney theme parks, and i mean right now! It really put Hyper Spacemountain to shame and i'm pretty sure you will agree with me after seeing the video below!

From The Verge article about it: "This fan-made Planet Coaster creation puts Hyperspace Mountain to shame. Released by Frontier Developments last year, Planet Coaster is an amusement park simulator in which players create their own roller coasters, a sort of spiritual successor to the RollerCoaster Tycoon games. One user channel, Guitar Covers Inc., has been playing the game for a while, and just released a video of a coaster that re-creates the attack against the Death Star from Star Wars: A New Hope.

When you think of it, a roller-coaster ride of a starship dogfight is pretty fantastic. The ride currently running at Disneyland has riders also fly through a dogfight, passing by video of X-Wing and TIE fighters. This video does one better, by having your riders fly past physical props of the fighters, right into the Death Star, through explosions and a debris field."

Disneyland Paris Update: DLP 25th Anniversary Latest News !

Hello everyone, here is the latest news from the 25th anniversary coming to Disneyland Paris which starts on March 26, 2017. As usual thanks to Max, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster. Also, make sure to dont' miss the end of the article as i have a news for those of you who are looking for the Disneyland Paris book but can't put the 100€ for the final French collector's edition copies.

Back to DLP 25th Anniversary and the news of the day is the release on social networks by Disneyland Paris of Concept-Arts of the Frozen float for the new parade « Disney Stars On Parade ». The float puts in scene the heroes of the film in structures imitating wood, but also the gears of the machinery, reminding the steampunk style of the Parade.

The « Disney Stars on Parade » has also many other floats already known in Disney parks which arrive for Disneyland Paris. Indeed, we'll find a unit of the evil Dragon from the « Festival of Fantasy Parade », just as the Lion King / Jungle Book float as well as Peter Pan from the old parade « Jubilation! ». Of course, theming adjustments have been made for the new parade.

Thus, the new parade will have 8 units:
1. Discover the Magic (La Fée Clochette, Mickey et ses amis /Tinker Bell, Mickey and his friends)
2. Discover Friendship (Toy Story)
3. Discover Adventure (Simba, Nala, Baloo et Mowgli)
4. Discover Imagination (Capitaine Crochet et Peter Pan /Captain Hook and Peter Pan )
5. Discover A New World (Le monde de Némo et de Dory /Nemo and Dory)
6. Discover Enchantment (Prince Philippe, les 3 fées et le Dragon de Maléfique /Prince Philippe, the 3 fairies and the evil Dragon)
7. Discover Romance (Princes et Princesses Disney /Disney Princes and Princesses)
8. Discover Wonder (La Reine des Neiges /Frozen)

In other news, we can discover the future decoration of DLP 25th anniversary, partly based on the one for the 60 years of Disneyland Resort in California in its color code. Main Street Station will be decorated with, in its centre, a « magical medallion » (a screen), which shows a « 25 », or the Sleeping Beauty Castle.

FOURTEEN Academy Awards Nominations for "La La Land" , a Gorgeous Movie That You Must Not Miss !

Disney's Zootopia and Moana are both nominated for "best animated picture" but the big winner in this year Academy Awards nominations is "La La Land" that i saw in theatre today and which is a truly great movie. La La Land got 14 - yes, FOURTEEN - nominations, and only two movies in cinema history have got as many nominations: Titanic, and All About Eve. I remind you that La La Land had seven nominations for this year Golden Globes and won Golden Globes for EACH of them. We'll see if he does as well with the Oscars ( probably not but he should get plenty ).

The movie, if you've not seen it yet - it is released tomorrow in France - starts with a terrific 5 minutes long sequence-shot and all along the movie music and songs are exhilarating! Ryan Gosling is good as usual but Emma Stone will surely receive the Academy Award as she is truly exceptional - and i mean it! This girl is as talented, sensitive and gifted as Leonardo Di Caprio is, and she can't get better compliment coming from me as i'm a huge Di Caprio fan. She began as actress in 2005 and since 2011 started to play in big productions ( the two last Spiderman and Birdman ) and i predict her a great career with plenty of awards.

In the meantime if you've not watched yet La La Land, run to watch it, it's a great musical comedy, partly paying tribute to famous Jacques Demy 1960 musicals ( Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, Les Demoiselles de Rochefort ) and the first sequence of La La Land even start like the first one of Les Demoiselles de Rochefort ( drivers go out of their cars and start to dance all together ). Of course the storyline is entirely different and here tells the story of a jazz pianist and a young girl dreaming to be an actress at Hollywood and of their broken dreams. The music and songs of La La Land are so good that i jump right now to iTunes to buy the CD, and i'm sure you'll do the same after watching the movie! You can also listen the full soundtrack on Youtube HERE.

Chinese New Year Celebrations at Shanghaî Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure

Chinese new year is next Saturday, January 28 and Disney parks in Shanghaî and Anaheim celebrate the event! Let's have a look at this with a selection of videos!

On the first video below filmed at Shanghaî Disneyland, shows the morning Chinese drum ceremony.

For those of you who missed D&M article last week about Shanghai Disneyland, here is a new video of the Chinese new year Dragon dance.

This year is the "Year of the Rooster" and a big logo for it stands at Shanghaî Disneyland!

Lot of Chinese lanterns also everywhere at SDL - all with "Mickey" ears as you'll see on the pictures below sent to me, just like the one above, by Helen, a D&M faithful reader.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, at Disney's California Adventure they also celebrate Chinese new year. Just like at Shanghaî there is a Dragon dance, the "Mulan's new year procession"...

... and also a new 6 minutes pre-show added to the World of Color nighttime spectacular. It tells the story of the journey home of a little Chinese lantern for the Lunar new year, as you'll see on this video filmed, like the one above, by Attractions Magazine.

"Arrival" Short Review

I've watched in theatre some  days ago the Sci-fi movie "Arrival" and i enjoyed it a lot. As you probably know it tell the story of alien spaceships appearing at different places of the planet and although we've seen this before in Roland Emmerich movies i think it's fair to say that "Arrival" is the anti-Independence Day, the two couldn't be more far from each other.

Arrival is by far one of the smartest movie i've seen on the subject, one of the most realistic too. As a matter of fact "Arrival" starts and ends like a Terence Mallick movie and others inspirations include Steven Spielberg "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" although the very talented director Denis Villeneuve took care to stay away of Spielberg masterpiece.

Amy Adams is truly perfect in her role of a language specialist helping to communicate with the aliens and to find why they're here, and Jeremy Renner plays a physicist while Forrest Whitaker plays someone from the army. There is a big big twist in this movie and i take care to really don't tell you what it is, as it is a genius script idea. All i can say is this: if you find the movie slow or if you don't get what's happening, stay and be patient as all the pieces of the puzzle will come together near the end.

Arrival is not a blockbuster movie so don't expect epic battle with the aliens like in Independence Day. In exchange you have one of the smartest sci-fi movie made since decades and definitely one of the best movie of the year. Don't go with young kids, as they probably won't understand the storyline but if you're in the mood to see a smart movie brilliantly played and very elegantly filmed, then you'll be happily surprised and will keep thinking about "Arrival" long after you'll be out of the theatre.

Shanghaî Disneyland Celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year ! Now Edited With New Video of the Full Dragon Dance With Disney Characters !

The 2017 Chinese lunar new year - the most important event in Asia - will happen this year on January 28 and Shanghaî Disneyland is ready to welcome the hundred of thousands of guests that will come to celebrate in Shanghaî during the next three weeks. Christian, a faithful D&M reader, share with us pictures he shot this week at Shanghaî Disneyland!

Before we start, a good news as, on December 31, Shanghai Disneyland had received the visits of 5.6 million guests. It opened on June 16, 2016, this making it one of the fastest Disneyland resorts in the world to attract 5 million tourists. Fan Xiping, president of Shanghai Shendi Group, told on Saturday that SDR survey showed that over 80 percent of tourists were satisfied with the service at Shanghai Disneyland. Occupancy rates of the two themed hotels at the resort have been greater than 90 percent, and the Chinese version of Disney musical "The Lion King" has been performed more than 200 times, Fan added." All this is indeed good, now the question is: how much these 5.6 million guests have spent in the park and resort during the last six months, something we'll know later this year when the first financial results will be released ( if they are ).

Let's have look now at the park with Christian pictures - to which i've added others from Chinese medias like this first picture - from Disney - showing a photo location outside the park, near the entrance.

Let's enter the park where most of the Chinese new year decorations with banners, Chinese lanterns, and more, can be found in Mickey Avenue...

...and the Gardens of Imagination at the beautiful Tea house of Wandering Moon.

Mickey and the gang, dressed in Chinese costumes entertain the guests with the famous Chinese Dragon dance and Chinese drums.

Not to forget the Mulan float during SDL day parade...

Christian went of course all over the park, in other lands which are not themed with Chinese new year decorations, and share with us the pictures below.

And that's it for today's SDL update, see you soon for a new update on Disney and more!
