First pictures of Hong Kong Disneyland It's a small world
As a big debate is growing little by little about the new version of Mary Blair's It's a small world attraction at Disneyland, Anaheim, the first pictures of the HKD version are released.
The attraction will be officially open to the public on April 28, 2008, and a countdown was launched on march 27.
Let's begin by some details of the facade, which looks familiar...
And, yes, Disney characters are now include in the decor, and all of you who worry about what could happen to the future new DLR version should have a look at the pictures below, beginning by the farwest scene with Woody...
A close shot of Woody and Jessie...
The oriental scene with Aladdin...
The Little Mermaid scene...
The Hawaian scene with the Stitch character...
A Paris scene with one of the Aristocats character...
And the Cinderella and her Prince scene. I must say that, at the exception of Stitch that i find a bit too much cartoonish, the introduction of the other characters are quite well done, in the "Small World" style.
Let's have a look at other scenes, beginning by the Japan...
The China scene...
Guests will discover a brand new "Hong Kong" scene...
Here is a tribute to Thailand...
The Jungle scene...
A close shot on the hippo...
And the famous Rain forest scene.
Let's end with a colder country, with the Canada scene, and i think it's Pocahontas that we can see in the background.

second image on the bottom you can see Woody and Mickey (or Minnie) ears.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Alain. I love the Hong Kong picture. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alain
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the idea of Disney Characters finding their way into It's a small world but I think the Stitch in the last picture has been done with a sympathy for the orginal look. I actually quite like it. But as for the Disneyland oringal please WDI leave it alone.
Pretty.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they would be OK in the gift shop adjacent to the attraction, but as a part of the show about the children of the world--YEEEEUCK!!
HKDL gets the short end of the stick again, too bad.
I disagree with the two Anonymouses.
ReplyDeleteI think that the HKDL IaSW images look pretty good and it'll be even better when it officially opens at April 28th.
It's clear that all the characters are rendered in the "Small World" design style and pay respect to Mary Blair, with the anonymous "children of the world" and the subtle world peace messages still being the central focus of the ride.
The Disney character additions, as confirmed by HKDL's ambassador, will be unique to HKDL's version. Therefore, DL WILL NOT be getting them, so don't worry.
Also, I don't feel that HKDL is getting the short end of the stick at all here.
ReplyDeleteactually, you can find Muland on the hill and Mushu in the China scene
ReplyDeleteWhat I meant is Mulan
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHope more articles about HKDL are coming from you!~
I really don't know what all the fuss is about. I think these additions look just fine. The hard-core Disneyland community just likes a reason to get all up in arms. Now, the loss of the rainforest scene for an ALL AMERICAN salute seems a bit much.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why they chose the pastel exterior scheme instead of the white and gold scheme?

ReplyDeleteSad, but true.
I wonder why they chose the pastel exterior scheme instead of the white and gold scheme?
That's because the weather tends to get gloomy in Hong Kong more often than in California, so having it be in multiple colors makes it stand out better. That's also the reason why the Tokyo and Paris IaSW facades are painted in multiple pastel colors instead of the classic white and gold scheme.
The girl on the hill , next to canada is poccahontas. i know that because i am the voice of her for the ride. if u don't believe me , ask me any questions about it.
