Walt Disney's Birthday Tribute !
One hundred and seven years ago, on December 5, 1901 Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois - there is a good article on Miceage today where you can see his birth house. So, today, Disney and more will have a big tribute to Walt, and let's begin by this youtube video by PantheraLioness, a nice photomontage with the exhilarating "Wishes" music.
Let's have a look back to his life with some great LIFE pictures. As we know, it all began with a mouse, but also a duck, and many more characters...
Here is Walt during a brain storming meeting on an animated movie - you can see John Hench in the front.
Until 1955, for all americans and people around the world, Walt's name was associated with "animated movie"...
But in July 1955 Disneyland opened and entertainment will never be the same. Lucky visitors who lived in a time where you could meet Walt on a stagecoach...
Or watch him walking in the park with his grandchildren...
...and Inaugurating the Monorail with a vice-president and scissors which will never work!
...A time where Walt was riding the parade - here also with his grandchildren
I don't know if there is somebody who received more awards and honors than Walt...
...including the Time magazine front cover in 1954
Let's end this tribute with a great documentary "Walt, the man behind the myth". Presented by the Walt Disney family foundation and narrated by Dick Van Dyke, there is a lot of fantastic historical documents inside and many interviews with dozens of people who knew and worked with Walt. The documentary is in 14 parts, and is probably the best biography documentary. It worth the time you will take to watch it!

ReplyDeleteGreat tribute. And to answer your question about Walt's awards, the answer is no : no one ever received more than him in the movie-making history.
ReplyDeleteWalt Disney is cited as such in the famous Guinness Book of World Records and has his own plaque at the various Guinness World Records Museums throughout the world. His record is visible at the Copenhagen's venue, as visible here :
