The Princess and the Frog Trailer now on line !!

The highly awaited Princess and the Frog trailer is now on line and all I can say is...Oh my God!! It looks GORGEOUS!!! We are going to have a closer look at it but before, as there IS below a lot of spoilers about different scenes i strongly suggest you to watch the trailer below or in high-def on Apple Trailers, and come back on D&M after you've seen it as there is lot of stunning images below!

As we know, the Princess and the Frog is a fairy tale - based upon the book by E.D. Baker - centered on a young girl named Tiana who lives in New Orleans' French Quarter during the Jazz Age. As we saw before on the first teaser she happened to meet a frog...

The frog explain to her that "he" desperately needs a kiss from her to break the spell ...

As "he" was before a Prince - Prince Naveen - from the land of Maldonia...

We can see the prince arriving and acclaimed by the crowd...

Before being transformed into a frog by the evil scheming voodoo witch doctor Dr. Facilier.

For different reasons that i won't explained now if you haven't seen the trailer yet, Tiana and the frog must find the good voodoo priestess of the Bayou, Mama Odie...

While befriending with a trumpet-playing alligator...

...and a hopelessly romantic firefly along the way.

It looks like the help of Mama Odie will be a precious one...

And, although some of the trailer images shows a happy ending (what a surprise!)...

...there is ONE thing that i won't tell you - specially if you haven't watch the trailer yet, it's what is happening when Tiana finally agrees to kiss the frog...

You have to see the trailer first to discover it!

The trailer also introduce new characters like these musicians of a street Jazz band...

And the early life of Tiana while she was a waitress.

Some other scenes shows gorgeous backdrop like this night scene with the river boat...

...or sophisticated decors like this "fairy tale" bedroom

Graphically speaking Disney animators did outstanding stylisation and colours on the voodoo scenes...

After watching this trailer i can tell you that i have absolutely no doubts that The Princess and the Frog - directed by the highly talented John Musker and Ron Clements - will be a major Disney animated film! I just can't wait for November!

  1. This looks absolutely FANTASTIC! A True Disney classic. I hope this gets nominated for a bunch of awards, maybe even Best Picture, it looks that great. This just looks so great for all kinds of audiences. I wish everyone would just stop with all this controversy about it, it looks phenomenal and I will definetly be there to see it. I guess I can't put into words just how great this really looks, I just can't wait for CHristmas, a perfect release date for this. Can't wait to see Rapunzel too and other 2D films they may come out with.

  5. Please forgive my english, it's not my native language.
At last, a real disney movie and not that annoying movies with pixar. 2d movies are the best and i'm very thankful and happy that disney is returning to it's roots.
I didn't hear any song in the trailer but I hope that it will be, because the disney songs make all the difference and help to make the movie a classic one.

  7. the story looks very similar to Brother Bear...
who was not a big movie.
I don't think this film will the great return to Disney in 2D.

  8. What I didn't want in a return to traditional animation was what could be a tired cliche that uses racial shorthand to convey character and a princess that looks exactly like every other princess Disney's ever created, except that she's African American.

While it is lovely to look at, I'm really hoping the story is engaging and the animation pushes the medium forward.

  9. Gilad, the Pixar movies are NOT annoying! Quit ragging on them!

Spajadigit, I completely disagree with your pessimistic remarks!

And Bibidibou, Brother Bear was a really good movie and should be respected as well. Plus, this film IS the big return of theatrical 2D Disney animated features.

I am also glad to see the return of great 2D Disney movies, and this one is really promising with the New Orleans theme (voodoo, jazz, etc). However I also think that Pixar movies are great, they are among the best animated movies of all times and up to the standard of the great classics such as Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty. There is no such thing as 2D is real Disney magic and 3D is not, the Disney Co., specially during Walt’s life time, has always been a company that developed and embraced new technologies they could use to tell stories, Walt loved technology and I think that he would be very enthusiastic about computer graphics, without abandoning 2D animation, which was a mistake they are now correcting. The only thing I do not like about that is all the racial issue some people are coming up with in the US, even saying that the movie is racist without even seeing it! Disney had an Arabic princess, a native American, a Chinese heroin and nobody said anything about, but when it comes to African Americans it is always such a big deal, even a great movie, that I can not see any racism in it, such as Song of the South was "forbidden" in the US for allegedly being racist, come on!- they even have an African American in the white house now, this racial issue is becoming old fashioned.
