Introducing Roger Gould , Pixar Creative Director for theme parks
I don't know if you've ever thought about it but i've always wondered how John Lasseter could supervise all the different projects he is supposed to take care of. I mean, not only he's still director and chief creative officer at Pixar AND Walt Disney Animation Studios, but he is also Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering. That's surely is a lot of work, isn't it?
Thanks God, John Lasseter know that he is also a normal human being and human beings have their own limits, which mean that no one can do everything. A little help doesn't hurt and at Pixar someone called Roger Gould is taking care of theme park attraction projects inspired by Pixar movies. To be precise, Roger Gould is at Pixar "creative director for theme parks".
On the picture above, Roger Gould, standing, is here with WDI Imagineer Kevin Rafferty and Don Rickles. The three - when the picture was shoot - were working on the script for Toy Story Mania's Mr. Potato Head AA. According to the IMDB site Gould was also director of Pixar's short "Mike's New Car" and "Boundin' ", and also the one of the animated sequences of......Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.
In today's Orlando Sentinel, Gould is talking about Pixar attractions projects: "We've thrown out some really fantastic ideas with all of those more recent properties. It's a combination of a great idea inspired by a Pixar film and the right opportunity and the right location and the right park somewhere around the world."
Jason Garcia also say in his article that "The people charged with bringing the movies to life inside Disney theme parks say they have conceived scores of projects based on all of the Pixar films. Turning them into more than blueprints, they say, is simply a matter of finding an opening."
Great, now we know that there is a Pixar division specially working on Pixar attractions projects and we even know who we have to talk with if we want to know more about them: Roger Gould.
Not sure, though, that he will accept to reveal all his secrets!
