Walt Disney Studios Toy Story Playland Update

Today, more details about Toy Story Playland, WDS next attraction, including DLP's short descriptions of each ride and the first map of the land. You will also find below the logos of each attraction - note that they may not be the final one - and new high-res pictures of the TSP posters, much better than the one i've posted previously.

Although these TSP posters were released and works on the ground began, surrounded by Toy Story themed fences, we're still waiting for the official announcement! However, Toy Story playland is now appearing on the 2010 map of the park, the kind of map you find in the park's brochure.

You don't see it well? Have a look to this closer view where you can see the giant Buzz Lightyear who will stand at the entrance, Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop on the right, RC Racer half pipe coaster on the left and Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin more or less in the center of the land.

On this other map you can see the giant grasses that will surround all the land. Think about giant grasses a bit smaller than the one in the DHS Honey I schrunk the kids playground and you've got the idea. The road going through the blue barrels on the right will go to the future Ratatouille attraction.

And now, the official description: "Toy Story Playland has the biggest new family attractions. They’re GIANT – when you’re shrunk to the size of a toy! Join the toys for playtime in Andy’s backyard where everyone can explore this oversized world with its three larger-than-life rides – Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin and RC Racer. Andy’s away and the toys are ready to play!"

Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop

Attention! Your mission – join Andy’s troops for a high flying adventure – Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop. When Sarge yells “Go! Go! Go!” , hold on tight as you fall from way up high in a simulated parachute drop. Over and out!!

Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin

Everyone’s tongues and tails are wagging about the all-new “zigzag-a-coaster” Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin. Family pups of all sizes will howl with laughter as they join Slinky in a rollicking spin to catch his own tail. It’s barking mad fun in Toy Story Playland.

RC Racer

Andy’s speediest toy car is sure to get you and your family’s adrenaline pumping. RC Racer is the most thrilling new ride in Toy Story Playland. Race along a 25 metre-high half-pipe coaster, as RC zooms you around at full speed…it’s a real gas.

Toy Story Playland will open in June / July 2010 at the WDS and in 2011 at HKDL! It will be the 2010 new attraction for Disneyland paris Resort, and in the meantime if you don't have yet the great "Disneyland Paris, From sketch to Reality" book you will find below all infos to order one of the last copies. Don't miss it, it's a great book!

  1. C tres mignon et ce parc commence enfin (tout doucement) à ressembler à quelque chose.
Espérons que les prochaines attractions et agrandissements iront dans ce sens et qu'une visite puisse enfin nécessiter une journée (contre qq heures actuellement).

  2. That first poster looks good. I was having doubts about this addition to the Studios, but I think this could be good. I hope there will be lots of trees and other 'green' stuff in this new land. The Studios realy need more 'green'.
Still waiting for the actual Studios park map. This 'resort map' is dissorted so it's not clear how the land will be placed exactly. I'm going back to DLRP this november, but will return next year to see this new land.

  3. DLRP really got stuffed this time didn't they.

  4. We are currently saving up for a trip to Tokyo Disneyland to see some real Disney quality. Despite having a vacation home in Bailly Romainvilliers, I still am not sure if we will bother with DLP next year. I would prefer for it to remain an empty field until they are ready to build something worthy of a Disney park. Crush coaster was bad enough, but now this too?

  5. Cheap and ugly. Enough said.

  6. This looks awful. Cheap-looking tacky rides. Even the posters are bad. I've been tempted to go to Euro Disney in the past, but the so so called 'attractions' out me off. They should be embarrassed.

  7. People who say "we are saving for Tokyo" obviously have never been there... TDS has a same playland thing, called Mermaid Lagoon. It has the same cheap off the shelf rides, but nobody is complaining there...

I think this addition (after we got some other GREAT attractions the last years) is very welcome. It will be nicely themed, will add rides for the smaller ones (and big ones too) and we will have a whole new part of WDS to explore.

Can't wait to see this new addition, bad economy, but still we are getting something new!!!

  8. The reason no one is complaining about Mermaid Lagoon is simple.

Look at Mermaid Lagoon. It may have cheap off-the-shelf rides, but look at the environment. It's the sum of all parts... not just the rides.

Then look at Toy Story Playland.

    Nuff' Said.

  9. Disney's version of Camp Snoopy!

  10. Alec: I do not agree! Mermaid Lagoon is inside a hideous building, the ceiling is very, very ugly and sometimes it interferes with the theming (e.g. the Sleepy Whale Shoppe). TSPL looks promising to me, why do people bash it before it is even finished...

  11. This is the uglies, cheapest thing I've seen Disney do since the Studio Park and DCA. Come to think of it, this cheap and ugly addition is just perfect for Disney Studios, why break the tradition of the parks low . . . VERY LOW quality.

  12. Hi Tom, I know it can seem unfair to start bashing things before they're finished, but this honestly looks awful to me and far, far below the quality I expect from a Disney Park or a Pixar Production. The rides look unexciting (to say the least) plus the drawings make them look like absolute eyesores. Also there's no need for the posters to be so ugly. These posters should make you excited for a Toy Story themed land, but how can they when they're as ugly and as poorly thought out as this? There are artists at Pixar who produce some absolutely beautiful posters, so what's the excuse for these?

  13. The inside of Mermaid Lagoon in TDS is probably the "ugliest" part of the park.

That said, its theming is still much better than anything WDS has to offer, with exception of the Tower of Terror.

I actually like the cartoonish look of the ceiling, although it is one of the few things in the park that could have been done better.

Furthermore, I agree with most other people that this addition looks cheap... But it is quite easy to bash anything before it has been built. Additionally, those attractions are probably primarily focused on little kids.
Hopefully, this will reduce the queues on e.g. Crush Coaster to acceptable lengths...

  14. I find it interesting that people can brush off the poor quality of this project, including those posters, (look at them compared to the post on Horizons and the amazing art created for that attraction); based on the fact it is geared towards kids? Come on, Fantasyland is geared towards kids and it doesn't make for cheap presentation or provide an excuse for poor execution. From a quality viewpoint, for kids or adults, this is low and Imagineers should be embarrassed by the continuous flow of mediocrity they are producing, brushing off all those who know good quality from bad quality as 'Disney Geeks' or those who don't like change. I remember a time when everything, which came to a Disney park, was 'Disney Quality' now we have to quantify that with excuses and "Disney Sea Quality' or 'Tokyo Quality. If the company who took theme parks to the ultimate standard continually presents us with cheap renditions like this, then makes excuses for it, they have clearly lost their focus. There should only be 'Disney Quality' no matter how big or small the project. All three of the new lands for HKDL leave much to be desired.

  15. Can anyone recommend the robust Managed Service tool for a small IT service company like mine? Does anyone use Kaseya.com or GFI.com? How do they compare to these guys I found recently: N-able N-central remote pc access software
? What is your best take in cost vs performance among those three? I need a good advice please... Thanks in advance!

  16. I REALLY HATE all these bashing comments!!!! For crying out loud Disney Land studios is a great park and a fantastic addition to the resort!!!! I don't believe Disney have enough in the studios for smaller children and they do know how many guests they have being families with younger children! In reality we have no theme park that comes close to the Disney resort here in the uk!!! The studios have a great mix of thrilling rides such as rock n rollercoaster, crushs coaster, tower of terror.... Over 8 years the park has seen major renervation and fantastic additions! Why bash it???? Don't like the place... Don't go.... Or do better.... Thanks for Reading!!! X
