New Little Mermaid video reveals King Triton Audio-Animatronic
Walt Disney Imagineering released this new Little Mermaid video showing the recording of the ride music. Remember "Part of Your World" "Under the Sea" "Poor Unfortunate Souls" and "Kiss the Girl"? You'll hear all these classics throughout The Little Mermaid attraction when it will open at Disney California Adventure on June 3rd. The ride will last about 5 1/2 minutes and scenes will include 183 characters, including 127 in the “Under the Sea” scene alone.
On the video you'll see for a few seconds a new Audio-Animatronic, the one of King Triton which should appear at the end of the ride!

the also shows Ariel and the prince in a boat and fish swimming around too albeit brief.
ReplyDeletethose are only a model... not an animatronic
ReplyDeleteActually those are the Animatronics you can see them move. Also Alain, the ride I believe is around 7 minutes long but the LA Times or whoever you got the info from (I saw it lasted as that as well)had the wrong info. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteActually that is of the actual ride anonymous. Alain the ride is around 7 minutes long not 5 1/2 I read that somewhere as well but it is for sure 6 1/2 to 7 minutes long as has been reported by Disney themselves and not some second party publisher. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteVery nice video, thanks for posting it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for my ignorance, but as the music is the same one from the movie, wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to use the music that was already recorded the movie, instead of recording it again?
Marco, it is a good question: the reason why they don't use the original score is because the score has been (probably) edited for the ride.
ReplyDeleteThey needed to have a new music recording which fits with the scenes of the ride and how they come one after another.
Thanks for the answer Alain!
