Folks, i'm sorry to say that we enter in the last week of Disney and more. Starting next Sunday or early next week i will stop posting new articles and if you ask me if it will be permanently or just for a few weeks the most honest answer i can give is "i don't know yet". What i do know however is that i really need a loooong break as i'm really exhausted. So may be i'll be back after i've recharged my batteries but we'll see. I will post a longer announcement the last day of posting and will try to answer to all the questions you'd like to ask me. As for the posts on the D&M Facebook page the answer is more or less the same. I probably will stop to post anything anywhere during my break and we'll see then. But don't worry Disney and more - the site - will not be closed and D&M and all my others sites will remain open with all the fantastic D&M pictorial archives, a real gold mine for Disney fans.
With more than 3890 articles posted in seven years Disney and more had more than 11 Million pages read since i've started in 2007 and for many of you Disney and more has been their favorite website so i know you will miss it. If, and this is only a "IF" i was coming back it would certainly not be with one new article posted every day. But we'll see what the future promise and in the mean time i'll have terrific articles for you each day until next week so don't miss them!
I enjoy reading your work and am really thankful for all the work and time you've put into this. But really.. How many of these posts have you written? Nearly always you return. Do you crave the attention? Because really, it's getting embarrassing and getting ever harder to take you seriously.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but it's not true. In seven years i've stopped only once D&M and came back two months later. Recently i've posted twice a post mainly to prepare the readers to the end of Disney and more and each time i did it it was sincere, as everything i have written by the way.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame. Have you ever considered collaborating with others to maintain the site reducing the work load?
ReplyDeleteA shame? A SHAME? Are you kidding me? I don't know what meaning you give to the word "shame" but if it's the same than i do the only shame here is to say that ending Disney and more is a shame. I've given"body and soul" seven years of my life to give you the best possible Disney website and it's not to hear something like this from someone who each evening had only to "put his feet under the table" and enjoy the meal without any more effort than a click of his mouse. Shame on YOU!
ReplyDeleteAlain, as a native English speaker, I think that's exactly what David Hewitt-McDonald meant - it is a shame (ie a great pity) that your site is ending. He was not actually insulting you.
ReplyDeleteOkay, let's put it like this... case closed!
ReplyDeleteOkay, let's put it like this... case closed!
ReplyDeleteI'll really miss your blog. Hopefully one day you will come back. Exciting things are waiting for us in de future (your words) ;)... DLP Future, Skull Island IOA, Avatarland, Shanghaid Disneyland,...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy and live your life the fullest!

Hi Alain, I have your book and it comes off my shelf all the time for a good read. I check this site all the time it is by far the best Disney site so much insights into Imagineering and backstage news. I love it. It must be hard work updating it so often. I do hope you manage to carry on after break at least with big stories and updates that way it will not drain you.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note I don't know Dave above but I really don't think it was an insult I think he means by shame that it is sad that it is coming to an end and not anything negative
all the best

Hi Alan,
ReplyDeleteAs others have said I was not in ANY way insulting you.
I actually meant I am sad updates are coming to a end. D&M is one of my favourite sites.
As others have said I was not insulting you. I am sad to see the updates come to a end.
ReplyDeleteD&M is one of my favourite sites I subscribe to!

You will be missed, I love what you provide to us!
ReplyDeleteI'm dismayed to hear this! Your posts really stand above all other Disney blogs, and I really appreciate your unique pictures. Take a break, but please know what you share is very valuable and appreciated, and I hope that after a little rest, you continue to share with us. Maybe less often, if that's easier on you, but don't quit!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a job exceptionally done, Alain. It's hard work running a free site - especially over long periods of time - and I commend you for that. And as hard as it is to run it, I'm sure it's just as hard to let go. Very appreciative of the massive effort you have given us online - great images, history, interviews, etc. - all while writing one of the greatest Disney books!
ReplyDeleteRelax and enjoy this accomplishment!
Alain, I will certainly miss D&M! You have been amazingly kind in how often and what you post, sharing information others could only dream of having. As a blogger myself, I understand how draining the work can be. So, I thank you, friend, and wish you Godspeed in your life- wherever it leads you!

ReplyDeleteYou will be missed....
Hi Alain,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the updates, many people enjoyed reading them, but sometimes it's time to take time for yourself. Maintaining a website and writing so much can be very very time consuming, but we are all very grateful that you did it.
Maybe we'll see you again on this site, maybe in another way.
Good luck in the future and keep enjoying the Disney parks :)
Hey Alain, I enjoy reading your posts. Very sorry you will stop, you'll be missed! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing website. Thank you for all you have provided over the years.
ReplyDeleteIt was a real 'E' ticket adventure visiting your blog regularly, but all rides come to an end. You'll be greatly missed! Good luck and success in whatever you choose to do in your future. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad!! D&M is my favorite site about theme parks! I've been reading you for over 5 years, I think. Thank you for all your great work!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll have a great "vacation" and will be back soon))) we'll be waiting patiently!!
Good luck!!
Eugenia
Please, please, please try to reconsider!
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing writer! Thank you for all your hard work
ReplyDeleteI'll really miss your daily posts Alain and I hope that you decide to continue with your posts after a much deserved break.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for all the amazing posts you've given us in all these years.
Now I'll have to find another good source of daily Disney news...
Hey Alain. I hope you come back after taking a break. I really love your site. D&M is my favorite Disney blog.
ReplyDeleteI also loved your book. I bought a copy years ago. I keep hoping you'll do a follow-up book. Lots has changed since the original publication.
Anyways, have a good break and please some back.
Hi Alain.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the work you've put into Disney and More over the years. It's an incredible vault for us Disney fans all over the world. I've been following your site daily for years and own your fantastic book about Disneyland Paris. It's been a pleasure visiting your site over the years. The best site on Disney theme parks. Good luck with whatever the future brings Alain. I hope you'll return with Disney theme park news sometime in the future after a well deserved break. I'm glad to hear the site stays online. There so many good stories online and a great picture/artwork archive.
Greetings from Denmark
Carsten
This is the best Disney blog. Nothing else comes close. Thank you for everything and best wishes for the future.
ReplyDeletePlease don't go. This site is too good.
ReplyDeleteAlain,
ReplyDeleteBeen reading your blog for over 5 years now. It's always been consistently great. But to echo what someone earlier said... maybe just post as much as you feel like. Less some days, more others, instead of these 'It's the end of Disney and More!!!' type posts that I've seen come and go over the years that (thankfully) never really stick.
I don't think any of your readers hold you to a certain frequency of posts, we're just happy that you do them at all. :)
