Disneyland Paris Space Mountain : Is a "Version 3" Star Wars Themed in the Works ?
One more news about Disneyland Paris 25th Anniversary as, according to ED92, a Space Mountain version 3 is in the works for Disneyland Paris Discoveryland with a Star Wars version, and should open for DLP 25th Anniversary, along with Star Tours 2. Below the translation of ED92 post which, as long as not officially confirmed, must be of course treated as a rumor, even if ED92 is generally well informed. You'll find also the french version of the post on ED92 Facebook post HERE:
"Some months ago, several Imagineers of Walt Disney Imagineering came to Disneyland Paris to perform some tests on Space Mountain: Mission 2, exploring the possibilities offered by its latest long renovation.
The program would include the very famous Star Wars music in the trains and projections of an epic battle between X-Wings and Tie Fighter.
You understand now, the famous « Space Mountain Version 3" we were talking about since a long time now arrive and will be dedicated to Star Wars!
As usual your adventure will begin with the help of the Columbiad cannon, which this time would not send you to an anonymous galaxy where a star becomes a supernova. This time it will catapult you into the most famous of all open confrontation between the Resistance and the First Order with, as a finale, an exploding Star Destroyer before returning to Earth at light speed.
Note that this new "mission" would arrive in March 2017 along with the new trains for the 25th anniversary of Disneyland Paris and should be a permanent dressing like his "clones" at Disneyland in California, Walt Disney World in Florida and Hong Kong Disneyland.
But DLP specificity, we'll have the opportunity to have a much better quality video, our Mountain having much larger screens than its counterparts.
It would not be the only attraction to host the Star Wars license next year as Star Tours 2 is also scheduled to open for the 25th Anniversary… "

So a Jules Vernian cannon shoots us right in the middle of a Star Wars battle - it all makes perect sense, expressed in dollars and cents, pounds, shilling and pence, I guess...

ReplyDeleteit already exists in Hong Kong and Anaheim and its Called Hyper Space Mountain! Nothing new on the horizon as it was well known Paris would get the over lay!
It was obvious that they will try to export the Hyper Space Mountain concept at DLP but that doesn't mean they could do it, considering that DLP Space Mountain is totally different than the ones at DL, WDW or HKDL. And nothing by the way is confirmed until official announcement. Now, if DLP fans who wants desperately new attractions are, in addition, complaining there is nothing new when a ride get a new version, then don't complain after that nothing is happening. Sure, Star Tours 2 and Hyper Space Mountain are nothing "totally new". But, hey, it's better than nothing, and are not you tired to have nothing new in terms of ride at DLP?
ReplyDeleteIts a shame Disney is able to get away with this in Paris.
ReplyDeleteIn the 25 years the park is up and running allmost no new rides were added and maintenance has been performed far less than it should have been.
(welcome to fence-land Paris)
Still tourists seem to swallow it as they keep comming to the parisian resort. I really wonder when we can expect something new, lets say a splash mountain, indiana jones darkride or mystic manor type or ride...
Adding star wars to a jules vernes themed ride is like adding the avengers to its a small world, it really makes no sense!
NOOOOO!!!
ReplyDeleteI listen to the La terre à la lune soundtrack so often and its just flawless. I was wishing to get the original version back for the 25th. What sellouts!

ReplyDeleteOr like transforming ToT into a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction - who would be so stupid to ever do that?
Oh, wait, i forgot...
So far Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World does not have Hyperspace Mountain. This may be for several reasons- At WDW the Star Wars presence is emphasized at Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom Space Mountain does not have onboard audio, it uses "Starry-O-Phonic Sound" to project music at you from stationary points within the ride. It is fun, more or less effective although not as thrilling as the onboard audio at the other versions.
ReplyDeleteNo! It fits the theme as is! How about a new attraction Instead?
ReplyDeleteI think a splash mountain would be a wonderful addition! With the new technology of animatronics, I think it would be a huge hit! Mystic manor is a great ride but DLP already has a fantastic haunted mansion! I could do without more Indiana Jones in the parks! But alas, given the success of the Frozen attraction at EPCOT, I think a fantasyland addition makes the most sense!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrible idea!
