In His First Interview About "Saving Mr Banks" Tom Hanks Talks About the Pressures of Playing Walt Disney
As you know Tom Hanks is playing Walt Disney in "Saving Mr. Banks" currently shoot at Disneyland and apparently the role brings a certain amount of pressure to Tom, who seems to be aware that Disney fans don't want to be disappointed:
"I don't want to piss anybody off. I want to be accurate, more than anything else," Tom told E! in a short interview: "John Lee Hancock is the director, and it's really the story of Emma Thompson more than it's about me, so, you know, I don't want to screw up." Good to hear this, Tom.
And he added: "They haven't fired me, so so far so good!". The movie centers on how Mary Poppins came to the big screen and Emma Thompson plays Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers ( picture below ).Hanks explained his researches for the role: "I went up to the Disney Family Museum at the Presidio in San Francisco. At first, I just went up to meet Diane Disney, who is Walt's daughter, and some of the staff up there, but then they invited me back up again on a day it was closed.
"They just opened up all the exhibits for me, and I saw every piece of film and heard every piece of audio," he continued. "I also have like 39 hours of informal interviews. It's one thing to see him when he talks on TV but another thing to get him when he's just having a conversation."
So, what did Tom Hanks learned about Walt that surprised him? "He's a fascinating guy, because what we have is this benevolent animator who would introduce us to his cartoon characters. But what he was was very tough, competitive and a very loyal businessman that invented an art form that is still going great guns today. To Walt Disney, ladies and gentlemen!"
And the mustache he's grown to channel Walt Disney is apparently not a hit in Tom Hanks household. "She hates it!" joked Tom about his wife Rita Wilson. "But it's not as bad as a few other things she's had to endure."
E! also said there is "one aspect of Disney's legacy that won't be tackled in the movie: the long-running urban legend that the animator had himself cryogenically frozen. "That's an interesting dog's tale. It's not true," Hanks shot us down before coyly adding, "At least that's what I've been told to say."

La Luna , Most Poetic Animated Short Ever Made By Pixar
If you haven't seen yet Pixar latest animated short "La Luna", a true wonder you really have to, it's not only one of the Pixar short ever made - and one of the longest one with almost 7 min long - but also the most poetic.
La Luna tells "the fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family's most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions?"
Enrico Casarosa, director of La Luna began his career at Pixar Animation Studios in January 2002 by doing starboards for Cars and Ratatouille. Watch below La Luna in its full version, and fast, as it shouldn't stay long on Youtube.

Disneyland Paris Christmas Event Special Report - Part Two
Here is the part two of the special report on Disneyland Paris Christmas event that happened last week-end, and let's thanks again Max, from DLRP Welcome and D&M contributor which was there and covered the event for Disney and more.
This time, we will have a look at what happened during the evening when regular guests were not anymore in the park. But first, if you want to add some sound and read the article while listening to Main Street U.S.A Christmas loop music - the same one that DLP guests can hear while they walk towards the castle - click on the Youtube video below. It's not a video, it's just music, so you can click on it and then continue to read the article while the music is playing.
The previous article ended with the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony and the private party began at 7pm. Thanks to the press credentials special event guests could enjoy Frontierland and Discoveryland main attractions and at 8.15 there was a special show called "Disney Christmas Wishes" with the participation of children, Disney characters, singers, and projections on the castle. For the first time a special projection transformed Sleeping Beauty castle in a giant Christmas tree!
Max also filmed the whole show and here is the video. Note that the show itself begin around 3.45min in the video.
It was then time for the special event dinner. In Disney special events, considering the number of guests, dinners are organized in several restaurants and some guests have tables reserved in a specified restaurant, others in another one, etc... For the press/websites guests the dinner was organized inside Frontierland's Cowboy Cookout Barbecue.
As those of you who have never been part of Disney special events may wonder how are the special events dinners i asked Max to shot some pictures and the pictures below will give you an insider look at the buffet. Note that the pictures were shot by Max at the start of the dinner when all the guests were not arrived yet at the restaurant. Guests were greet with a special drink. Food and drinks are generally extremely good during these special events dinners. And of course free.
Hey, even Donald and Uncle Scrooge were there!
After the dinner it was time to come back to the hotels were guests were invited for sleep - in the case of Max it was the New York Hotel. As regular guests were not in the park anymore it was also a unique chance to see the park with no crowds and here are some pics of an "empty" Frontierland at night.
On the way to Main Street a last look at Sleeping Beauty castle with its Christmas lighting.
We will end with a series of great pictures of Main Street and Central Plaza at night, with the Christmas decorations.
Hope that you enjoyed this special report. I remind you that from now until Dec 25 you can order a collector copy of the Disneyland Paris, From Sketch to Reality book at the special Christmas price of 85€ (instead of 120€) +15€ shipping. And let me tell you that "From Sketch to Reality" will definitely make a GREAT Christmas present to anyone you love, including you! As usual you can pay directly with Paypal or bank wire transfer. You can either use the Paypal button below or send me an email at: neverlandeditions@gmail.com
Two important notes: first, we're running low of english copies so the sooner you'll place your order the better it will be as we're pretty sure that it will be out of stock by the end of this year. And, two, if you're living out of France the shipping can take quite a while, so to make sure you receive the book on time for Christmas - and avoid to have to pay extra "urgent shipping" cost the best is to place your order as soon as possible.
