No Plans to Remove Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Ride at Disneyland to Build Star Wars Land, Says Iger

A short but important news from the Disney stockholders meeting as Screamscape reports that Bob Iger confirmed at the meeting that "there are no plans to remove the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage ride at Disneyland, and that it will reopen in the fall, as planned, after an extensive rehab. Iger also confirmed that they are working on plans to add more Marvel and Star Wars to Disneyland… but just not in that spot." Well, that's good news indeed but does it mean there won't be a Star Wars land at Disneyland? Not necessarily, although the rumor of a Star Wars - Marvel third park at Anaheim can be reactivate...
Thanks to Screamscape for the info!

Also, Disney and IMAX signed a deal and the new Star Wars Trilogy will be released in IMAX as well as several movies including Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tomorrowland, and of course Star Wars: Episode VII. You have the full press release on D&M Facebook page HERE.

I don't see why they'd remove it since it still generates traffic and the Autopia is still popular. I do with they'd strip out the PeopleMover track in that area while the subs are closed.

I thought it was kind of ridiculous that they would want to rip out the most expensive-to-make Disneyland attraction to date after less than a decade of it operating in it's current incarnation, and with Finding Dory coming out soon (I think it's next year).

I still want to see some updated version of the Peoplemover come to Tomorrowland. I think the attraction was critical in giving the land a feel of movement. It would also bring back a high-capacity attraction and be a relaxing ride...relaxing rides keep guests from getting cranky and exhausted.

@MakeltPink - While I agree that an updated PeopleMover would be great, I think they should rip out the current track and start from scratch.

That's excellent news! I'm not a fan of the current incarnation of the subs, but the lagoon gives a great visual to that area of the park, especially when arriving by Monorail, and it brings a lot of Nostalgia.

I think that they should update the whole of Tomorrowland and bring new things. Relaxing rides are very important, but they should come up with a new relaxing ride. People Mover was nice, but nowadays, I don't see any reason to bring it back; Disneyland is not a museum...

The Skyway, on the other hand, is a relaxing attraction that it would be great if they brought back.

Iger said "We're looking to bring more Marvel and Star Wars to the parks." So, that means it could be DCA and not Disneyland park. Or it could be a new park?
