Wishing you a Happy New Year with all my very best wishes for 2014! See you soon for new great articles!

Editor's Note: Call it transgressive, provocative, outrageous, or anyway you want but the last D&M post of the year is now on line below, and it's a hot one with gorgeous artworks from comic book artist J Scott Campbell and colors by Nei Ruffino. Reasonably "hot" i would say but, still, this pin-up treatment to Fairy Tale princesses or Characters might look sacrilege to some of you, so jump to the full article at your own risk... or pleasure!

FairyTale Fantasies, by J Scott Campbell

It's New Year's Eve tonight, and i don't know how it is in your country but i remind that in France, on January 31st, the TV channels generally authorized themselves to be a bit more "hot" in their programs. In the good old days it was the Paris Lido show with its Bluebell Girls which was aired "live" or, later, the gorgeous girls of the Crazy Horse Saloon, etc...

So, i thought that today will be the right day for the hottest article ever posted on Disney and more, thanks to the gorgeous artwork of J Scott Campbell, beautifully colored by Nei Ruffino! J Scott Campbell is a brilliant comic book artist and since some years he released calendars called "Fairy Tale Fantasies", inspired by famous fairy tales from all over the world, including some which were adapted by Disney in animated movies. Although J Scott Campbell gives to the characters or princesses the pin-ups treatment, the calendars are not called "Disney Princesses Fantasies" because, first, for legal issues, and also because they also include illustrations from fairy tales that were not adapted by Disney.

You'll find below a selection from both the previous calendars including some from the 2014 calendar. I'm sure you'll find easily the link of some of the artworks with famous movie scenes and most of all i hope you'll enjoy this great artwork from J Scott Campbell. And if you're still too prude for something more sexy or transgressive than usual, then just come back on January 2, it'll avoid you to scream "sacrilege"!  :-)

That said, let's start with a Peter Pan series...

Neverland Mermaid Lagoon...

Tiger Lily...

Wendy, in the final battle scene...

A Tinkerbell series...

The Blue Fairy from Pinnochio...

The Evil Queen from Snow White...

Sleeping Beauty...

Cinderella...

An Alice in Wonderland series...

The Queen of Hearts...

A Little Mermaid series...

Jasmine, from Aladdin...

Beauty and the Beast...

Tiana, from Princess and the Frog...

Rapunzel from Tangled...

For those of you interested by J Scott Campbell calendar, i think you still can order it on his website right HERE.

Short ratatouille Ride Update !

We're going to end the year almost like we started it with these new pictures of the works on the Ratatouille construction site, shot yesterday Dec 29 by Max, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster. The fences that you see in the foreground on the picture above and below are around the works on the fountain that will be in the center of this parisian plaza.

If you look well you'll see in the background  on the bottom right some scaffolding which are located where the ride entrance will be. DLP imagineers are currently finishing the theming on this entrance so that's why this is there and soon the entrance will be finished and unveiled.

Disney Animated Famous Characters... Without Their Beard !

Something fun for you today with this great series of art that gives you a look at what famous Disney bearded characters would look like without beards! Obviously the beard adds a lot more weight and authority to the characters...

And there are also a few pieces that show us what beardless Disney characters would look like with beards. The series comes from Annie Erskine, via Fashionably Geek.

1955 Article Introducing Disneyland - Part Two : Peter Pan's Flight Original Design, and more

Thanks to Matt Hunter Ross and David, two faithful Disney and more readers, i've found the second double page of this great 1955 article announcing the opening of Disneyland with great original artworks by Disney artist Bruce Bushman!

In this one - just like in the part one which was showing the original concept for the Snow White dark ride that you can see HERE if you've missed it - we have the original concept for the Peter Pan's Flight ride. This Peter Pan sketch is a perfect example of illustrating a ride, and pretty faithful to the opening day show, the only surprise in it is that the track mechanics are shown on the sketch of the boat at the upper left in the picture above.

Also on this double page a sketch for Mr Toad's Wild Ride vehicle...

...but also this concept of a Donald ride that never was in which "seagoing visitors would have been captain of their own electric powered boats in the shape of wash tubs. Inflated inner tubes would have encircle each craft to absorb the shock collisions." It's funny, but when i see this artwork i thought that they still could do it using the same old Flying Saucers technique, the one they used at DCA for the Luigi Flying Tires attraction.
As for the Dutch mill in the background this one was finally built by Imagineer and DLP Fantasyland show-producer Tom Morris at Disneyland Paris Fantasyland - although with a slightly different design - and was of course a tribute to Disney's short animated and Academy Award winner The Old Mill.

A great idea - specially for a pre-show decor - was this decor of a huge table from Alice in Wonderland which would have made DL guests feel like Alice did after the potion made her tiny...

Last but not least, the artwork of the Alice Mad Hatter tea cups ride is another one showing an attraction that has been built, except that we don't have the table with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare in the center of the ride. It was probably not possible for technical reasons, but it would have been a good idea to have the tea cups turning all around this unbirthday party table...

Thanks again to Matt and David, and if you had a good year with Disney and more why not making a kind donation through Paypal - see the post below.
