This Halloween, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is hosting its most wicked Halloween party ever! From September 14 to October 31, Disney Halloween Time 2017 will present spook-tacular parties day and night, where guests can embrace their wicked side by teaming up with the infamous Disney Villains. There will be spine-tingling thrills all across the resort, including brand new experiences such as an interactive mystery dinner with Disney characters. It’s time for wicked fun at Hong Kong Disneyland alongside all the favorite Disney Friends and Disney Villains!
At the fright-filled walkthrough attraction “Maze of Madness: The Nightmare Experiment Continues,” a crazed professor takes guests into the dark side of Disney stories. Courageous guests can enter the professor’s mind-bending lab where they will have all kinds of devilish encounters. Journey through Stromboli’s Wagon from Pinocchio, the Scare Floor from Monsters, Inc., the Mad Hatter’s Hat Shoppe from Alice in Wonderland, as well as spooky rooms based on Beauty and the Beast and Hercules.
Join Mickey's Magical Halloween Hunt
This Halloween, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy will host Mickey's Magical Halloween Hunt, a three-course interactive dining experience where guests of all ages work together to solve the mystery of a missing treasure alongside a magician, occultist, fortune-teller and musician! This interactive character dining experience is sure to delight the taste buds as well as a sense of intrigue. Guests can make an advance reservation for the special dinner at the Explorer’s Club Restaurant by calling (+852) 3550-3388. This experience is only available on selected dates. Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s most wicked Halloween party will get into full swing on Main Street, U.S.A., when Mickey and other Disney friends wearing their Halloween outfits rock out at Mickey's Halloween Time Street Party. Mickey, Minnie and Goofy will appear atop giant jack-o’-lantern whirlies and will invite little guests to dance their hearts out. Guests can also toss around Halloween Time pumpkin balloons as well!
Then, when the sun goes down, the Disney Villains will come out to play in “Villains Night Out! Chapter 2.” For the first time ever, Ursula the sea witch from The Little Mermaid will show up and take part in this spine-tingling procession. Guests can be a part of the roaring mayhem as other infamous baddies appear, including Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, Jack Skellington, Captain Hook, the Queen of Hearts and Cruella de Vil.
At the Pirates of the Caribbean Ghost Trail, guests can encounter a crew of ghost pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean who have come ashore in Adventureland. If they dare, wicked guests can team up with these ghoulish pirates who are seeking revenge on none other than Captain Jack Sparrow.
Of course, Halloween wouldn’t be complete without some wicked photos and the fun of trick-or-treating! Guests can find Trick-or-Treat Booths in the park and there are also lots of chances to meet beloved Disney friends and Villains for wicked photos during both the daytime and nighttime.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort offers more than 150 themed costume items, accessories and Halloween dresses in addition to a huge range of Halloween merchandise items. I saw in theatre the “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" of Luc Besson two weeks ago. And personally i loved it enormously. But I also understood why those who hated it hated it. Visually the film is incredible. It is in fact a very "Neptunian" film where imagination "has taken the power" and we have to let ourselves flow into the film and accept that the story - that some find difficult to follow but which is nevertheless clear if one follows the movie - is not "square" as it can be in American blockbusters where the good ones and villains and the stakes are clearly identified every second, but in a fairly primary way. Unfortunately, as today's public has become accustomed to this, when they have a film where they really have to "follow" and not be dispersed to understand what's going on, he's probably tend to get lost in this type of film. Someone in the comments here said that it was “a beautiful mess”. It is beautiful indeed but it’s not a mess, or at least it was not for me.
Two things, however, prevent the film from being perfect, and it is not the two main actors ( the girl is actually quite close to the Laureline's character in the graphic novel from which the film is inspired), though i find both of them a bit “young” in age, i think that actors five years older would have been better for the characters. But it's the "bad guy" who is not bad enough - Besson or the actor seems to have forgotten the famous Hitchcockian principle saying that better is the villain, better is the movie “. Also, the last twenty minutes of the film don’t work that well. Because, whatever those who did not like it said about the story, the film has a story and it must be finished. As a result, the film becomes more "rational" in its filming and this breaks the "Neptunian” charm of it, but Besson did not have the choice. Even if the film is not as perfectly structured as the films of James Cameron, in the direction of whom Besson obviously glances, I think, for example, that James Cameron will love the film despite its imperfections. On the visual level the film is a real treat, Rihanna does a fun cameo, and you will be blown away by the visuals but one should not see it a day when he is too rational.
I Also watched in theatre "Dunkirk" of Christopher Nolan and i liked it too. It's a much different story of course as it tells the story of the needed evacuation of thousands of British soldiers surrounded at the start of World War II by the German army on a beach near Dunkerque in the North of France. In this case, Nolan has chosen to have a minimum of dialogue as he wanted to have the audience experience "physically" what have lived these soldiers stuck on the beach. Although the film has excellent actors like Fionn Whitehead, Kenneth Branagh, Tom Hardy and the excellent Mark Rylance as well as a good music by Hans Zimmer i wouldn't say that Nolan totally succeeded in what he wanted to do. But it's a good movie so i would recommend it too, and the actions scenes are extremely well filmed.

I have a new Disneyland Paris update for you, thanks to great pictures from Robert, D&M faithful reader and Arribas Crystal Arts!
When Universal Studios opened the Wizarding World of Harry Potter there was a merchandise item which was pure genius: the magic wands of Harry Potter and his wizards friends. Sure, all the kids fans of Harry Potter would want to get one, and it's exactly what happened, Universal sells tons of them. It don't happen that often to have a merchandise item being a pure bingo and chances are that Harry Potter magic wands probably made jealous the folks of WDW merchandise dept. Well, i'm happy to say that Disneyland Paris, in collaboration with Arribas - a company specialized in Crystal items - introduced last week its own magic wands, now sold at Merlin's shop inside Sleeping Beauty Castle!
But DLP guests won't find here magic wands made out of wood or resin but of glass, each one is made by a glass blower in front of your own eyes, then filled with magic crystals of your choice!
There is even a storyline for these magic wands! Merlin is asking for your help and is now ready to tell the world the truth. In searching Merlin's own shop was found a parchment revealing Merlin's entire plan: to form a magician's academy to thwart the attack of the Villains thanks to magic wands.
Here is the "recipe" to make a good and powerful magic wand as described by Arribas Crystal Arts: In order to make a good magic wand, the first phase is to choose well the crystals that compose it !
In addition to the shiny colors that will attract your eyes, one must carefully select the crystals, because huge powers will be locked in! Green will make you a lucky one, white will bring you wisdom, red will give you the strength you need to accomplish great things.
Once the crystals have been carefully selected, make sure that is put the right amount of crystals in the wand.
Too many crystals and your wand will create an overpower that will turn against its owner and not enough crystals will cause a dysfunction of the magic placed inside.
The ideal quantity is 20 grams of crystals for a wand, with the colors of your choice.
Now that you have the precise amount of crystals of your choice, you must activate the magic that is locked inside. As there is a specific object, of great rarity and created by Merlin in person!

The big rumor this week is that Disney's Animal Kingdom will get an Indiana Jones land. Yes, i know, DAK is supposed to be an “Animal Kingdom” but it didn’t stopped Disney to build the Avatar land there so i suppose the question of meaning is probably not the most important thing. But there is more about this which could make sense in having an Indy land built there. According to Orlando Informer "All of DinoLand, USA will be remade into Indiana Jones Land with half of the attractions getting a theming overhaul and the other half being razed to the ground and replaced by brand-new experiences. Dinosaur, the area’s flagship ride, is expected to be re-skinned as Indiana Jones Adventure, the 1995 attraction from Disneyland – not at all surprising, given that Dinosaur has literally the same exact ride vehicle and track layout as its Californian predecessor. The Boneyard Fossil Fun Site is also currently expected to stay, albeit with the expected makeover into an archeology-themed dig site...
...that leaves the Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama miniland on the chopping block; all the real estate that is currently eaten up by both TriceraTop Spin and Primeval Whirl, along with their attending midway games and gift shop could be home to one giant new E-ticket ride, although what, exactly, that could entail is anyone’s guess at this point in time.”
You can read the full Orlando Informer article HERE but it’s right that the Dinosaur ride has exactly the same track than Indiana Jones Adventure so, yes, they could re-use the ride with the IJA theming and save a lot of money indeed. Same for the Boneyard Fossil site. And DAK vegetation would fit perfectly with an Indy theming too. So, there is several points that could make this rumor right, and we have to wait to see if is or not. The full Orlando Informer article also says that Disney may envision to build a fully-immersive Indiana Jones themed resort experience just like they're planning with the Star Wars resort, which in my opinion could be a very good idea indeed.
And what about an Indiana Jones land too for Disneyland Paris, you ask? Well, the coming of Indiana Jones Adventure to DLP Adventureland is rumored since 20 years, the blueprints are ready ( see above and below ) and the good news is that DLP Imagineers are still keeping available the land to build it when it would be decided to do it. When? Well, here is my opinion on all this. As we know a new Indy movie will get into production soon and is planned to be released on July 10, 2020. Obviously Harrison Ford will be quite old at that time and they plan to have a new actor playing Indy in the movie, and for the next films of the franchise ( btw, good luck to them to find one as good as Harrison Ford! ).
My guess is that Disney will wait to see the success of the movie - and the new actor - and then will give the green light for this DAK Indiana Jones land - if the rumor to build it at DAK is right, of course - and then eventually at DLP. Apparently it seems that we need to be patient so it may mean that all hope is not lost to have Indiana Jones Adventure coming someday at Disneyland Paris Adventureland!
You know the famous quote from Andy Warhol who, in the 70's, said that in the future everyone will have his 15 minutes of glory? Well, today, it's the day for Andreas Seltenheim who did for D&M something absolutely fantastic!
Early last week i've reposted the Geyser Mountain article that i've previously posted after Imagineer Pat Burke passed away and if you've not read it yet i strongly recommend to read it HERE as it includes the story line of this Geyser Mountain attraction that never was. The article included too Pat Burke sketches showing how Geyser Mountain would have looked like and Andreas had the genius idea to create in 3D with the Planet Coaster software the whole building. Even better, he did a video showing Geyser Mountain right in place where it should have been built at DLP Frontierland, near the geysers! As Planet Coaster don't include a functional elevator drop ride Andreas couldn't recreated the ride itself but only the exterior, and he did it with greatness, i'm sure that Pat Burke would have loved it.
I'm sure you're dying to see all this so here are the video and some pictures of Geyser Mountain perfectly recreated by Andreas whom we can't thank enough for the great job he did on this!
Now, let's have a look at the pictures of Andreas CGI creation, and to make sure that you see how Andreas work is close to Pat Burke original sketches, here are Pat drawings again.

Now, let's hope that someone at DLP Imagineering will watch this video as may be it'll give them the idea to finally build Geyser Mountain at Frontierland!
