Breaking News: Magnitude 7.1 earthquake jolts Tokyo and eastern Japan coast

A strong earthquake struck off the south coast of Japan on Sunday night local time, "jolting Tokyo and wide areas of eastern Japan", the country's Kyodo news agency reported.

No news until now of any kind of damages at Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo Disney Sea, but a 7.1 earthquake is powerful and always have "replicas" hours later, so if you live in the area, be careful.

The 7.1 earthquake hit 200 miles (320 kilometers) south-southwest of Tokyo at 7:55 p.m. (6:55 a.m. ET), the United States Geological Survey reported.

Its epicenter was 188 miles (303 kilometers) deep, the USGS said.

The Japan Meteorological Agency reported its magnitude as 6.9, Kyodo said.

There were no immediate reports of damage, and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a tsunami warning"

Here are the earthquake distances ( from the USGS web site ):

165 km (100 miles) W of Hachijo-jima, Izu Islands, Japan
175 km (110 miles) S of Hamamatsu, Honshu, Japan
205 km (130 miles) S of Shizuoka, Honshu, Japan
320 km (200 miles) SSW of TOKYO, Japan

You can't just copy text from CNN, willy nilly and then write a "copyright CNN" down for your own safety. You have ZERO contractual exclusive rights to do so with The Cable News Network. Use of text or pictures that are not your own, without an exclusive right for ***research*** is okay, but to sell your books, NOT OKAY. ABC can do it because they ARE DISNEY. You are not Disney.

Finally, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) use of their picture is NOT A COPYRIGHT. Information provided by The United States Government is public domain.

I think you better go back to using NRJ's stuff. I'm sick of people "making it" by breaking the rules, either by ignorance or just doing it nevertheless. Goodbye.

Sheesh. There's always some crank. I doubt anyone really thinks you're deliberately plagiarizing for all the fame and fortune you're making off the blog ;)

Anonymous is probably some bitter person who couldn't get their Disney book published. I'm grateful you report on such things, as I know people in Japan, and might not have heard about it elsewhere. Thanks.

Shame on you, Alain! How can you do such an abominable thing, just to sell another million books! Don´t you realize CNN could go out of business after this, leaving thousands of their eomployes stranded on the street?
