Folks, we need your help, and the time is running against us! You may have heard that during the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train press event WDW also announced that Disney's Polynesian Resort Lobby will have a brand new decor ( see rendering below ). What they DIDN'T tell you is that they intend to simply remove forever the gorgeous Polynesian waterfall and Polynesian garden which is currently in the Ceremonial House lobby - the one they intend to change completely.
George Kalogridis is currently President of WDW Resort. He was at the Disneyland Resort before and did a real good job over there so, do we have here the first BIG mistake from George? Not only i think it is, but it's also a really stupid one because anyone who can agree to remove the waterfall and lush garden of the Polynesian Resort lobby is obviously someone who didn't understood anything at all to what really was this gorgeous piece of scenery right in the middle of the Ceremonial House. And a waterfall, by the way, which was the pride and joy of Disney Legend Fred Joerger who painstakingly created it.
Sure, Disney as always have some good alibi to destroy the waterfall and apparently the main reason is that there is more and more guests coming at the resort and they need more space in the lobby. Is it right? Probably, but as usual there is often a unsaid reason hidden behind the official one, something like "we could have resolve the problem in another way but it would have cost us more money" or "the maintenance of the waterfall is too expensive and we'd like to save that money" or "the waterfall needed to be rebuilt and we want to save the money" etc... plenty of bad reasons of this kind, that we will never know.
On the rendering below here is how the lobby will look instead of this gorgeous lush garden and waterfall that you've seen above if we don't stop them. What do you prefer, this:
...or this, as it is right now:
Now, here is where you can help, and it won't take you long. The good folks of the Disney Avenue website have created a petition and we have to act QUICKLY as they should start the destruction of the waterfall anytime soon!!! One can only hope that this petition will open the eyes of Disney management so that they will reconsider this change. If you feel the same way like we do - i.e that removing the waterfall and Polynesian garden is pure insanity, then jump RIGHT NOW to Disney Avenue and please sign and share this petition and let's save Disney's Polynesian Resort waterfall together!
Please sign NOW the petition HERE. Or go on Disney Avenue HERE.
Not yet convinced how great the Polynesian Resort waterfall is? Have a look at the video below from Mouse Steps showing the real thing!

I grow weary of all the Stop This; Stop That Campaigns.
Let WDI do their damn jobs. It would be fine with me if all of the whiney Disney Geeks stopped coming to the Parks.
Tell these people with too much time on their hands to volunteer to help somebody. Do some good. This is beyond trivial.
I have bought your book and have had respect for your efforts in the past. Please don't turn your site over to this kind of nonsense.
Well, dear Anonymous, i don't really do this kind of campaign every week, but here i think they're going to delete something which is the identity of the Polynesian Resort and most of all something that everyone who have been there truly love, by what i can judge from the comments left on others sites talking about this. I never doubt that WDI can come with something new and better, but in this case particularly, yes, i doubt - but i can be wrong...
Lets sign a petition for the Yeti in EE to be fixed too!
I think it's great that you want to save the Polynesian waterfall, but Change.org seems like an inappropriate place to submit a petition for this. I think Change.org was intended to be used for petitioning human rights causes, better working conditions, safer environment and social change. I hardly think a lobby waterfall in an expensive hotel that caters to the few would fit under category, would you? Anyway, good luck!
I totally agree with you, but i'm not the one who created this petition, it's the young guys of Disney Avenue, if i had done it myself i wouldn't have choose Change.org for the reasons you're saying, but now it's done, so....
Your missing the point...change.org was created as a way for people to come together and to "change" something they disagree with. Go to change.org main page...one of the top petition is to stop overages at ATT, Verizon and Sprint. Is that a social change? I agree with the petition as a way to get a group of people to speak up for what they believe is rite or wrong. You must be passionate about the company or I doubt you would be on this site. I applaude these guys for standing up for what they believe and feel. If you don't agree don't sign your free to choose.
I'm for the petition 100%!! Too many people like to complain when Disney messes up something they like but don't take action at least these guys are
Anonymous - I'm not missing any point. I still feel this petition is too trivial for Change.org. The Disney Avenue petition is a better match for something like this.
