DLP Update : Swing Into Spring Full Report - Part Two with Four HD Videos !

Here we go for the part two about Disneyland Paris "Swing into Spring" update thanks to gorgeous pictures of Max Fan, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster. In this part two you'll see all about the Disney's Spring Promenade show. If you've missed the part one with the Welcome to Spring show you'll find it HERE.

But first, on Central Plaza the topiaries are always present and the flowerbeds are properly installed with plenty of beautiful colors.

The train previously used with Disney characters is parked there from 11:40 to 15h because of the several performances of the Disney's Spring Promenade show during which the train is used as a stage for the musicians who play live during the performances.

On Central Plaza the Disney's Spring Promenade show ( every day except Mondays and Tuesdays ) is experienced differently by visitors depending where they stand. Central Plaza allows dancers to turn all around it, and the choreography appear more dynamic. Indeed 4 groups of dancers and sweeps make the same show at different locations of the Plaza. All characters without exception are visible by all guests as they march in the same loop. The fast choreography paying tribute to Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary brings a sparkling fresh air full of joy with colorful costumes.

On the first video below you'll see the Disney's Spring Promenade show as seen from  Central Plaza - Main Street side.

On the second video below you'll see the Disney's Spring Promenade show as seen from the Castle side.

More pictures with the show as seen from the Castle Stage where are the musicians and the arrival of Mary Poppins and Bert.

Let's have a look now at the show as seen from the side of the Castle Stage which is a totally different configuration. This part of the park don't allows a loop and the dancers can't turn as they can on Central Plaza. Also, the Castle stage allows to have an orchestra more important than the band on the train on Central Plaza but also to find four more dancers as well as Clarabelle.

On this side, although the dances dynamic is slightly lower, it is largely counterbalanced by the absence of hole that can be noticed on the show on Central Plaza. In addition, the orchestra sound is much better than on Central Plaza ( music lover place yourself here ).

DLP Update : Swing Into Spring Full Report - Part One with HD Video !

Disneyland Paris new "Swing into Spring" season started last Saturday April 5 and Max Fan, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster was there to shoot glorious photos and videos with a sunny sky!

In this part one we'll had a look at the Welcome to Spring show happening on Town Square playing each days except Thursday and Friday at 11h55 – 12h10 – 12h40 – 12h55 – 15h20 and 15h35, except changes. on Town Square guests will find flowers everywhere as well as Mary Poppins penguins. Welcome to the Spring as well as the other show on Central Plaza include songs from Mary Poppins and although it's a theme that fits well with spring there might be another reason for that. As you may have read in the previous update this Swing into Spring season was prepared one year in advance and at that time the Mary Poppins musical was suppose dot open at Paris Theatre Mogador. Finally, partly because french singers are so poorly gifted for playing american musical comedy the production couldn't find anyone (!) and he Mary Poppins musical was cancelled! But back one year ago DLP probably thought that the musical would be open ( and popular ) by now and it might be a reason why they choose a Mary poplins theme for this spring season. OR may be the cancellation of the musical gave them a kind of "green light" to create their own inspired Mary Poppins shows, here at DLP.

Anyway, as you've seen with the video above Welcome to Spring is a small 10 minutes show but it helps to bring some life to Main Street U.S.A and it's a kind of surprise show very welcome to bring back some of the magic of street animations that was there in the early years of the park. The choice of songs is fine but considering that the costumes / ballets is a mixed between a Mary Poppins - Hello Dolly atmosphere the excellent song "Put up your Sunday clothes" from Hello Dolly would have been perfect in the medley.

Legendary Actor Mickey Rooney Dies at 93

Legendary actor Mickey Rooney died yesterday at 93. He was born in 1920 and started to play in movies in 1926 at 6 years old...and since never stopped playing as he was still playing in a movie when he died. Not only he played in 340 movies ( unbelievable! ) but he's been through, literally, all Hollywood history from the Golden Era to modern days. He played too in Disney movies ( Pete the Dragon is the most famous ) and - believe it or not - he voiced Oswald the Rabbit in the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons in 1929!

On the picture below Mickey arrives at the Grand Opening of Disney California Adventure on February 7, 2001.

The "concentrate of energy" Mickey Rooney put in his roles was unbelievable. Below, a great musical sequence from Babes on Broadway ( 1941 ) directed by genius musicals director Busby Berkeley in which he played with Judy Garland - Mickey appear at 25 sec.

One more thing: although he was short - 5 ft 2 in (1.57 m) - it didn't stopped him to marry at 21 with legendary actress and most beautiful woman in Hollywood at that time, Ava Gardner who was 19! Lucky man!
