Little Mermaid Ariel's Undersea Adventure Full Ride Video !

That's it, here is the first video of the Little Mermaid Ariel's Undersea Adventure full ride and the ride is a Wow! The HD video filmed by Asianjma123 is excellent and of course if you're planning to do the ride at DCA anytime soon it's better to don't watch the video as it is a giant spoiler.

That said, it is a really charming dark ride in the grand Disney dark rides tradition, with state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics. If you expect this - and not an attraction like Pirates of Caribbean or Haunted Mansion - then you won't be disappointed at all.

However, the only thing that seems off is the transition from the Kiss the Girl scene to the end finale. A big climax scene with the death of Ursula would have been welcome as the ride ends a bit abruptly. Let's hope that this missing climax scene will be added in the WDW version. Otherwise the whole ride looks pretty solid.

But we must congratulate Tony Baxter and all the WDI Imagineers as they did a fantastic job on this ride! Now, if the ride could come to Disneyland Paris in the future, that would be great!

Enjoy the video, and most of all watch it full screen!

Although it seems to be a nice ride, which makes you very happy, it is not comparable with E-ticket darkrides as Pirates and Haunted Mansion, I agree with you Alain. In some parts I think all these blacklight effects make it look a little cheap.

Very very disappointing...

This ride is great! That's what I want to see Disney doing!

I completely agree with you Alain about the finale tough, and I also agree that this ride would be a GREAT addition to DLP fantasyland (please, just don't put it in the DSP!

I'm also totally against WDW having better versions of the attractions, Disneyland is the original park and is located in the second most important metropolitan area in the US. Their version of Winnie the Pooh is inferior to the Florida one, and that is the case of some other attractions. Very unfair!

It looks pretty good but one thing bothers me. In the Kiss the Girl scene, Ariel and Eric don't actually kiss. I wouldn't look that odd, except that a few hundred feet away at Toy Story MM they have an animatronic in the queue (not even in the ride proper) that can remove and replace its own ear. But the Ariel and Eric figures can't get closer than 6 inches? Making two animatronics touch shouldn't be half as difficult as removing and replacing an entire body part.

Disney is back.

I think this is the greatest thing Disney has done in years, and is certainly their best fairy tale dark ride.

@Marco Antonio Garcia

The reason Walt Disney World often receives attractions considered superior to their counterparts at Disneyland is usually because of size. Disneyland attractions have to conform to size restraints, while...

"Here in Florida, we have something special that we never enjoyed at Disneyland--the blessing of size. There's enough land here to hold all of the ideas and plans we could possibly imagine." ~Walter Elias Disney

I was not aware that Tony Baxter was involved in this attraction. Can you tell us more?

StrikerObi,

They're not supposed to kiss in that scene... they come close, then fall in the water (in the film)... the first kiss comes at a later point in the story.

It is a good ride and would be great for Fantasy Land - the main park needs new additions as well as the Studios.

As for Florida - surely the size can also be its downfall. It maybe toooo big and thus loses its magic between the park. And the buses are full and long journey between parks and hotel.

Have you watched the Little Mermaid movie StrikerObi?

The reason why Eric and Ariel don't actually kiss in that scene, is not technical, it's just that they don't kiss in that scene in the movie, otherwise the spell would be broken and she would have stayed human and married Eric without all the drama and the final battle of Eric vs. Ursula...

This ride is great indeed, but I don't think it's the best fairy tale dark ride, Skipper Justin, as I really love Mr. Toad Wild Ride and Peter Pan's flight, and they are and always will be my all time favorites! You're probably right on the space issue, but even the effects are better at WDW most of the time, guess that they invest more in the Florida Resort.

Nevertheless, DL is still my favorite resort, I enjoy walking from the Hotel to the parks, instead of having to wait in lines for a bus or a monorail. I also enjoy having to walk less, and DL is a much better park than the Magic Kingdom.

I forgot to mention the Alice in Wonderland dark ride, that along with Peter Pan's flight and Mr. Toad Wild ride are my all time favorites!

These all time classics deserves some updates tough, they're already showing their age...

Thank you for the video!! In regards to the finale, I feel they might have omitted a fight scene for children. I currently work at WDW and I hear kids all the time saying how much they hate "Snow White's Scary Adventure" and how they never want to ride it again. Leaving out a big battle scene creates a more playful and whimsical ride that children walk away loving, even if it was missing something for adults. I'd love to hear a child's opinion of this ride!

Shame that the US parks got "our" ride first.
Seems an amazing new dark ride and Im looking forward to seeing it when it opens in WDW.
Just look at how long you have to wait for Peter Pan ,this is a classic Disney ride and much needed.

Looks great!
Yes a battle scene with ursula would have made more sense... They could animate a projection in the distance there I guess.
In general... Stop griping. This is a solid solid addition.
For the people without childhood memories of Mr Toad btw, it is a dreadful. I found it the single worst thing I have ever experienced in a Disney park. Without nostalgia all you have is flapping bits of painted wood.
DCA is moving up in the world and with this, WoC, TSMM, placemaking and Cars it starts to look pretty sweet compared to, say, DHS.

First off let me say I am often accused of being negative and not liking anything Disney does recently... I am FAR from a DIsney apologist. With that said:

1) From the get go, from day one Disney has called this a "C" or "D" ticket attraction. Later I heard a few PR people call it an "E" but the fact remains that is was designed for a supporting role. As such it seems to be a huge success.

2) I have heard people complain about the figures, the lighting and so on. Give me a break... the figures are lightyears ahead of most anything else Disney has out there... certainly in this level of attraction, and I happen to not enjoy black light so I am glad to see them NOT using it here.

3) Finally, I guess "The grass is always greener" because I have NEVER heard of anyone claiming that WDW versions of rides are better than the DL versions... it is almost comical to hear that. Now the Tokyo versions are generally much better but not the WDW versions.

In addition DL has many, many attractions that the Magic Kingdom does not have and even all of WDW is missing. Obviously DL cannot compete with WDW and it's four parks as a whole but virtually every identical attraction has more care and detail given to the DL version... I think Mermaid will be one of the few exceptions to that rule.

Come one, being scared by the Snow White dark ride! It has to be a very frightened child.

The only thing that was a bit scary at Disney was the excelent Alien encounter attraction, that was replaced by the Stitch one. First time I went to WDW I was five years old, and did not have any problem with Snow White. I Was a bit scared of the Haunted Mansion, but I liked the feeling.

Didn't Walt say that children like being scared? I completely agree with him!

Mr. Toad Wild Ride is notr at all dreadful, it's a great attraction based on a great cartoon feature, and you don't need to have childhood memories, just go to DL, fortunately it's still there.

To Teevtee:

I agree with you 100% on what you said about the Little Mermaid ride, and yes, DL have great attractions that WDW don't have like Indiana Jones and the Alice dark ride, but many attractions are inferior in DL.

Winnie the Pooh is a big example, in WDW you jump with tiger, have an interactive line, e.g. and in DL you don't have any of this things, the attraction is simpler and smaller. Another example is the Haunted Mansion, the WDW version is longer and more elaborate, and now they have a better line, a better final scene, eg. It's true that at DL they have the Jack Skelington from Halloween to the New Year... I could go on with examples...
