Pixar's " Brave " First Trailer
The first trailer of "Brave" - Pixar's next animated film - is now online and you can watch it below. I'm curious to know what you think about it. Why? Because at first sight it looks more like a WDAS movie than a Pixar movie. But a trailer being only a trailer let's give them the benefit of the doubt.
And by the way, do you know the names of the three Scottish characters below? They are Lord MacGuffin, Lord Dingwall and Lord MacIntosh!

Breathtakingly photorealistic backgrounds - but what´s the point of creating backgrounds that look exactly like the real thing? I know Pixar simply cannot do an "artsy" feature, there´s just too much at stake - but I cannot help but think that they could do so much more...
Don´t get me wrong, I have the highest admiration for them - but wouldn´t it be nice to get sth completely "stupid" from them once, sth that´s as risky and silly as Fantasia was when it was made...?
It makes me a bit worried as well. We'll see how it turns out though...
Assez decu de ce trailer... c'est évidemment techniquement magnifique mais je n'ai pas excitation pour le moment... On est trop dans un mixe entre Raiponce et Dragon.
I'm not sure about this anymore. It doesn't look as if it has that certain Pixar flair that UP, Wall-E and Toy Story had. It looks more like a Dreamworks production and How to Train your Dragon comes to mind.
^ I was just going to say that. I'm just glad even the main character has a Scottish accent. That ruined Dragon for me a bit.
But judging by the characters and humor seen in the trailer, it's probably going to be a hit, if not a fan favorite.
I really hope that Pixar don't loose their quality, they're the best thing in animation since Fantasia and I really wish that they keep their outstanding quality, something that Disney Animation Studios has lost a long time ago.
That said, I don't know what to think about this movie. The subject is great (middle ages, Scotland), it's a princess movie, but not a typical one (I'm not a fan of the Disney princesses BTW), the visuals are stunning, but I was also not sure about the trailer, it has a kind of comedy and general feel similar to Tangled or Dreamworks as said, and that is terrible, because even tough both of them are reasonably good, Pixar is usually light years ahead of both Dreamworks and DAS, one of the differences is that Pixar movies are usually very emotional, but in a very sophisticated way, also their comedy is much more sophisticated.
I really hope that Pixar doesn't become too similar to DAS, otherwise they can just merge the two (what's the point in having two studios doing the same thing?)
As Alain said, let's wait.
By the way, this must be "Disney's" first red haired princess, they made such a big deal because of the first black princess, and nobody talks about the first red haired; I'm probably saying that because I love red haired women, I think that it is the most beautiful hair color for women...
Specially women with what is called a "venetian red" hair color, Marco, which is the case here.
I absolutely agree with you Alain! And blue eyes.
Blue eyes? May be green eyes, it fits better with the venetian red.
Both I guess, but you're right, green eyes fits better.
^Marco: Disney's first red hair princess??? What about Ariel???
I doubt she will become an offical Disney princess. Honestly I think Disney's latest animated movies were good and they have gone back to the old formula of fairytales and broadway style music, lighting rumours of a Disney revival.
Pixar really need to stay ahead of the game, becuase Disney looks to be making a comeback.
You're right anonymous. I completely forgot about her, big mistake! Maybe it's because this one looks more like a real red hair...
The point is that recently Disney had its first Arabic, Chinese and red haired princesses and nobody talked about it, but the first black princess was a big deal, lots of polemic, attention not to offend anyone, e.g.
Disney is improving, but never has been, since Pinocchio and Fantasia that were the two masterpieces, better than Pixar, at least not in my point of view (Fantasia 2000 was almost on the same level).
As a big fan of Disney, and also a big fan of Pixar I must say it looks terrible. And I won't just say something like that with pain in my heart. The worlds, nature etc are looking great, but the characters are ugly, looking like they stepped out of a Dreamworks movie, not a quality DIsney/Pixar movie. I didn't like Toy Story 3, didn't like Cars 2. I'm almost gonna think that Pixar is a little bit lost :(
