Some months ago a digital brochure presentation for the AIA TAP BIM awards leaked with dozens of digital renderings of Shanghaî Disneyland Enchanted Storybook Castle, as they call it. You've seen some of the pics on the web and, surprisingly, i hadn't posted any pics from it. Above and below you'll find four of them showing of course SDL castle, in the bigger size available yet, but there is many more that i've posted on the D&M Facebook page on which you can have a direct access HERE.
Talking about the D&M Facebook page and the SDL castle, once on Facebook HERE , scroll down to don't miss others pictures showing a part of the castle built in a huge mock-up, and more.

This Castle is one of the many examples that the current crop of Imagineers have lost all sense of scale. This is likely to look and feel like a monstrosity. Other examples: the changes to DL New Orleans, the dollhouse castle in New Fantasyland, the huge fences/walls next to scaled buildings for DL's new Main Street back alleys. The original Imagineers were great at this as they came from Hollywood set design background. As no one builds sets like that anymore, I'm not sure of the solution other than training. But it's clearly not a priority or understood to be important anymore.
I hope that the castle will look more appropriate in real life. But on these pictures it looks like something got out of hands...
My guess is that the chinese have been frustrated, as a rising power, to have a small castle at HKDL , specially when they look at the size of the one in Tokyo. I think that Disney to win the market in China main land probably didn't had other choice than to promise to the chinese officials that SdL will have the biggest castle of all Disney parlks, and specially bigger than the one in Japan! The size of the castle sounds to me totally politic...
