Alain - loved the Big Thunder Mountain video! Many thanks from Tennessee!
It seems they did not do anything about the unbelievably loud mechanism on the uphill parts. They are videos on youtue where you can see young people, who are no doubt accustomed to the noise levels of rock concerts etc., almost desperately trying to protect their ears with hands, fingers... that is how loud the ride is!
Jones, it's voluntary if the noise is loud. Actually it is not "loud" like if someone had turned up the volume, it's mechanical and it's amplified specially during the first lift while you are inside the mountain with the stalactite, etc, precisely because this lift is "inside". Personally i love that this sound is loud, and i think it adds an element of a bit of frightening, but all tastes are in the nature as we know...
Thanks for your response, Alain - yes, it was never silent, as it is a mechanical system, not a magnetic one like the one on, say, Expedition Everest. But it used to be acceptable - loud, but not hurting your ears. Today, it is so loud that it actually hurts your ears, and that´s why there are so many people who put their fingers into their ears. Of course, I may be mistaken and it was alwasy as loud as it is today - memories can be tricky...
It's wonderful to see BTM in top shape and looking great! Not sure if I missed it but are the geyers fixed and working!? They were down when I visited and I've always wanted to see their return! My fingers are crossed!!!
