Last Ratatouille Pictorial Update Before June 22 Press Event !

Here we go for the last Ratatouille pictorial update before the press event happening this week-end! As always, let's thanks Max, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster for his precious help and pictures!

Everything is clean and ready for the press event but the big news today is the Remy fountain in the center of the plaza which is now finished and ready for opening. And we're not just talking about the scaffolding removal, but of the addition of champagne bottles held by rats and also the contrast enhancement on the stone to highlight the reliefs.

The Fast Pass sign is back... and totally unchanged! And on the same building, the lights used for night lighting should certainly be retractable. You won't see them the ground.

The blue gate at the start of the Parisian street, near Toy Story Playland entrance, is removed and replaced by vegetation and a mesh wall.  The entrance on the Parisian street and all the scaffoldings on a portion of the Imagination building not themed yet were removed too.

The merchandise shop won't open before this fall but in others WDS shops you will find the very first items linked to the attraction. Here you can find a Emile plush at 22.99 €, a child cap (unfortunately one size only) at 16 € 99 etc...

Disney's Planes Fire and Rescue New Extended Trailer !

A new extended trailer for Disney's Planes Fire and Rescue is released. I'm really waiting for this new Planes movie, the first one was okay but suffered of a plot ( world cup ) a bit too close to the one of Cars 2. But this new one won't have this problem and visually it looks gorgeous!

New Crush's Coaster Entrance Now Open at DLP WDS Toon Studio !

Here is a new WDS update and this one is all about the new entry of Crush's Coaster, as the new entry is now finished and open to the guests. thanks as always to Max from DLPWelcome for his great pictures.

However, this new Crush's Coaster entrance is not completely finished because in too many places, lack of finishes and especially raw concrete are still apparent. Not to mention the lack of window glass, or guardrails in hard (instead than rope).  Also note that the new Single Rider queue is not active yet. And especially that the standard waiting queue can now absorb almost 100 minutes of waiting without overflow instead of the previous 60 minutes.

But the fact that fences are down is a good thing as it will look better for the Ratatouille Press Event at the end of this week. Do not forget to follow us on Sunday, June 22 for Live report during the press event.

Disneyland Paris Release First official Ad for the Ratatouille Ride !

Disneyland Paris released today the awaited first official Ad for the Ratatouille ride. The Ad is already aired on french TV and Pixar Animation Studios did special animation for it. It's a 30 sec Ad and you'll probably think it's short but it's a timing specially done for an Ad to be aired on TV... and to don't cost too much as the price for a 30 sec Ad on french TV channels is generally very expensive. We probably can expect a longer one to be shown in movie theaters.

That said, there is a problem with this first official Ad. It's not coming from Pixar animation who did a great job as usual with the new sequences; it's not coming either from the fact that the Ad is not filmed in the ride itself as we can understand why they couldn't do it, specially with 3D projections. The problem, i think, is that the message about what the ride really is is not perfectly clear for someone who've never heard about the attraction. You and I know that we will have the feeling to be reduced at the size of a rat and, although this DLP Ad try its best to show it, it's not clear enough and i'm not totally sure that non DLP fans guests will understand it instantly. Either an off voice or some text at the end is missing. They could could have put an explicit line instead of the weak "l'expérience à ne pas rater" ( "the not to be missed experience" ) on the last shot.

The other problem is that the Ad suffers ( unvoluntarily ) of the fans Ad directed by Johan Souply released three days ago. If you have a look on the Facebook page of Disney Central Plaza forum almost everyone hates the new official Ad and prefer the fans Ad! Which mean that there is obviously a problem somewhere... But to be perfectly honest the Ad done by Johan - that you can see below if you've not seen it yet - last two minutes, so one and half minute more than the DLP Ad which gives also more time to do something great... and definitely more effective.

Sunday's Rumors !

Sunday's rumors! : The Adult Side of Disney learned this week "that early in 2015 the American Idol Experience will close. Now it has been confirmed that Disney will also be closing the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at the end of 2014. It is thought that both closures will create room for the Star Wars additions coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is expected that Disney will be making formal announcements within the next few months. Rumor is that the Star Wars attractions will spread out and fill the entire Echo Lake corner and more. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2015."

In addition to these news stronger than ever rumors are saying that Epcot Norway's Maelstrom will close early 2015 and will reopen in 2016 with a brand new Frozen attraction. The Maelstrom post show will close too.

More about this Indy stunt show closure rumor on Disney by Mark HERE.

Edited 6 / 17: Good news as Disney management has confirmed to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular cast and crew that the rumors of the show’s closure are not true. Only the American Idol show will close down in January 2015.

Harrison Ford Suffering Serious Ankle Injury After Being Hit on the Set of Star Wars 7 by the Fall of a Millennium Falcon Hydraulic Door

A really bad accident happened to Harrison Ford on the set of Star Wars 7 in England when he was hit by the fall of a hydraulic door of the Millennium Falcon. Harrison clutched his chest in pain as crew members rushed to free him from underneath the prop’s hydraulic door. He was then stretchered off set and flown to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, which specialises in fractures. A source added that he was in ‘a lot of pain’ and his foot appeared ‘damaged’.

According to an update from The Hollywood Reporter: "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates," Disney Studios said in a statement to THR".

This seems to be a serious injury for Harrison and potentially could have a huge impact on the filming of Star Wars 7 if he can't be back on set for months or can't walk, etc... More about this on Disney by Mark website HERE

On the picture above, Ford is walking recently in a street of London with J.J Abrams and co-star Oscar Isaac.

Shanghaî Disneyland TRON Coaster Update

A short post about Disneyland TRON coaster thanks to a video which is originally a short interview of a Senior Engineer at Shanghaî Center For City Construction Design. You'll learn why Shanghaî Disneyland turned to Grundfos for flood control to help protect the theme park and visitors long after the 2015 opening.

But the part that will interest you are these few seconds of shooting at the start when they've filmed the TRON Lightcycle coaster during its construction a few months ago. You have above a screen capture showing the whole TRON site. Then, they do a closer shot with a short horizontal travelling on the track itself and i did an edit of three screen captures showing the whole shot. Click on these two picture to see them in big size.

Here is the video for those interested by seeing the whole interview, in chinese with subtitles in english.

I have to thanks a lot Daniel, a faithful D&M reader, who sent me the link of the video. But Daniel also just returned from a trip to China and was in Shanghai on June 1st. He rode the Maglev train that runs north of the Shanghaî Disneyland Resort and captured these pictures which turned out decent for going at 270 mph. He could see a lot of tower cranes over the site and the castle is beginning to rise as you'll see in the pictures. He also could see the Tron coaster which is now fully covered. He even could see the track inside, but none of the pictures he got captured it, probably because he was too far and the Maglev train was going too fast.

On the first one below ( definitely click to enlarge the picture ) you'll see in the background SDL castle rising.

On this next one you'll see the whole site with the TRON coaster on the right.

And this last one shows a closer shot on the TRON coaster structure.

Thanks a lot to Daniel for these pics!
